A small series of worn, embroidered tea towels, created to express life’s worries, its wear, and its economic hardships.
This series is a raw and spontaneous first creation. Called ‘Torchons’ in reference to the definition of the object, the term also alludes to numerous French expressions, notably ‘a poorly written, poorly presented or worthless text’. Kitchen linen, everyday tea towels – how many sorrows do we wipe from our souls before they are completely worn out? The wear of tea towels is ‘natural’; it reflects years of repeated use and lived.
The series was exhibited at the collective exhibition “Rages Graphiques”, organised by Jo Delannoy – aka Jo Dessine un peu – at La Zone, in Liège.
