Angoisse is a character I often use in my press illustrations. Inspired by engravings by Félicien Rops and José Guadalupe Posada Aguilar, Angoisse underwent several transformations before becoming the character with the frozen smile that reveals the darkest emotions of the various protagonists in the Chroniques de Namur.
